As the current COVID-19 public health crisis continues to impact schools across the globe, MSB DSM closed on 17th March as per the directives from the government of Tanzania, to contain the spread of the pandemic.

As closure extends further into its third week now , Al Madrasa had turned to online learning models, (Google classroom, Google meet, Zoom) to ensure that effective instruction is shared with our students, and learning continues.

During a closure, communication between administrators, staff, parents and students is more important than ever.

We began with training of our staff to learn how to use the online platforms available, to make learning accessible to our students. One of the things that we instilled was, "In an online environment, everyone's anxiety is high and channels of communication need to be frequent, clear and succinct."

Our teachers make sure that;
They are breaking learning into smaller chunks.
• They send clear instructions about expectations for online participation.
• They provide immediate (or at least frequent) feedback through online knowledge checks, comments on collaborative documents and chat to keep students motivated and moving forward.
• They include virtual meetings, live chats or video tutorials to maintain a human connection.

Our parents are our greatest supporters, and it is with their assistance that we have managed to reach out to our students.
They help us by making sure that;

They provide suitable means for the students to access the online material (laptops, smart phones, desktops, iPad, tablets and provide the data required)
• Complete the assigned tasks and upload them in their virtual classrooms.
• Children take regular breaks and eat nutritional food.
• Students keep to a regular sleep schedule.
• Limit distractions whenever possible (turn off social media notifications, for example).

We would like to emphasize that, "None of this learning will go to waste in moving forward. Many of the skills learned during the online learning period will be equally beneficial in a regular classroom.”

We pray to Allah taala to keep us safe and protected in the saya of Syedna Aali Qadar Mufaddal Saifuddin tus and may Allah grant Him long and healthy life till the day of Qayamat. Ameen
